Cast Numbering - Time Consuming
KJ Walsh
In the Cast elements, the renumbering is time consuming. We do our own cast numbering (most ADs will), is there any way to add a drag and drop option if we have to renumber? Right now if I need to change a Cast Number, like say I need to change Cast #15 to #5, I have to change each sequential number individually. Any thought to making that less time consuming? Or is there a short cut already in there?
More flexibility in this area would be helpful. In prep we move cast numbers around quite frequently. In movie magic the "auto-numbering" also helps with renumbering. For example, if i take someone from #23 to #17, I can hit auto numbering and it will renumber any ID not locked that is below the new #17. Right now I have to individually change the numbers and is time consuming.
What is also time consuming is if I need to move someone from #23 to #17, if a cast is already assigned #17 i can't replace that number easily. My current reach around is to number the new one 17A and then adjust the numbers which I still have to do individually.
Overall, number of occurrences is a smaller deciding factor than other reasons we have to number people. Take Judi Dench in Shakespeare in Love. She was only in 2 maybe 3 scenes but I guarantee you she was a top 5 cast member.
